Dar es Salaam. Graduates have been urged to use the knowledge and skills gained during their studies to address real-world challenges and contribute to community development.
This call was made on December 12, 2024, by the Acting Chancellor of International University of Kampala in Tanzania (KIUT), Professor Peter Msolla, during the university’s seventh graduation ceremony.
Professor Msolla reminded the graduates that society expects them to use their education to drive development and address community issues. He emphasized that the main purpose of education is to help solve the challenges facing society.
“The best way to prove what you have learned is through your actions and work. Go out and be good ambassadors of the education you received,” he said.
He also encouraged the graduates to create their own jobs and opportunities for others, rather than relying on government or private sector employment. “Be proactive in seeking opportunities, even though it’s not easy in today’s competitive world,” he added.
The Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jerry Silaa, urged the graduates not to see graduation as the end of their education. Instead, he described it as the beginning of their professional journey.
“This graduation is a joyful moment, but it’s just the first step toward achieving your dreams. Education has no end,” he said.
Professor Yunus Mgaya, Chairman of the University Council, advised the graduates to have confidence, set goals, and manage them effectively. He reminded them that the education they received is not just for personal gain but also for the benefit of the community.
“The knowledge you’ve gained is a tool to help solve challenges around you,” he said.
