The David Sportswear TAPSA Leaguehad seven teams from Kampala International University in Tanzania (KIUT) pharmaceutical department that battled it out in a football showdown themed “Kivumbi na Jasho”. Sponsored by local sportswear brand David Sportswear, the tournament showcased athletic talent and competitive spirit of diploma and degree students within TAPSA-KIUT.
The tournament kicked off with a heated clash between BPH1 and BPH2, whereby BPH2 emerged victorious. The action culminated in a nail biting final, with BPH2 dominating DPH2 in a 5-0 penalty shootout to claim the championship title. The winners were awarded the trophy, medals, and a new jersey set, while runners-up walked away with medals. The top scorer was acknowledged with a new pair of football boots, while the goalkeeper of the tournamentenjoyed the champions’ spoils.
The event’s success has laid the foundation for future TAPSA initiatives, with hopes of making it a repeat tournament. TAPSA-KIUT is a club made up of pharmacy students from KIUT which are the members of the Tanzania Pharmaceutical Students Association (TAPSA) is an independent, non-profit organization uniting pharmacy students across Tanzania, both Mainland and Zanzibar. It promotes education, advocates for student rights, collaborates with health authorities and organizations, and raises awareness about responsible medicine use and antimicrobial resistance.
