KIUT Vice Chancellor joins International Women’s Day celebration

On 7thMarch 2025, Kampala International University in Tanzania (KIUT) commemorated International Women’s Day 2025 with an open airevent under the theme “Accelerate Action.”As the head of KIUT Management team, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Angwara Kiwara was invited to offer opening remarks and later invite the guest of honor. As he was opening the ceremony,  he reminded KIUT women at all levels the importance of unity, resilience, and acceleration in education and professionally. He encouraged them to build team spirit at work andsupport one another as they face different challenges.

He urged KIUT women by reminding them of the strength in diversity and said, “I see multiple nationalities gathered here as one, full of joy and working together like a family that we are. That is something to celebrate. Work past the negativity around you and keep moving forward together,” he said. He added, “Women have the capacity to excel in academics, be great mothers, and supportive wives. They should not set boundaries for themselves,” he insisted.

As a gesture of appreciation, he invited a representative from each of the nationalities in the audience to step forward, and gave themAfrica without borders pendants as a symbol of strength in unity. The guest of honor, Prof. Verediana Masanja, the first Tanzanian woman to earn a doctorate in Mathematics, pinned pendants on representatives of several nationalities in attendance and took pictures with them.

After the VC gave his blessings, the event proceeded, with the messaging focusing on the need to Accelerate Action by taking decisive steps to achieve gender equality across KIUT community.
