The president of TAMELASA-KIUT leads with a commitment to advancing medical laboratory science, fostering professional development, and driving impactful community health initiatives.

About TAMELASA

The Tanzania Medical Laboratory Students’ Association (TAMELASA), established on January 14, 2009, is a nationally run non-profit organization comprising medical laboratory students from various medical schools across Tanzania. TAMELASA formally established an arm at Kampala International University in Tanzania (KIUT) on September 20, 2014.

Our members are passionate about medicine and making positive changes in our society and the global community at large. TAMELASA-KIUT aims to inspire, innovate, and motivate medical laboratory students to excel in their profession and contribute to national health services.

Membership is open to medical laboratory students of all levels, who can apply by filling out a registration form and receiving a membership identity card.

Vision

To spearhead and advocate best practices of the Medical Laboratory Science profession and national health services in Tanzania to the global landscape.

Mission

To inspire, innovate, and motivate research studies, create professional development opportunities, and act as a representative voice for Tanzanian medical laboratory students.

Key initiatives and accomplishments since our inception

National Health Laboratory Visit

Visited the National Health Laboratory in Dar es Salaam to enhance practical exposure.

Malaria Screening Event

Participated in World Malaria Day 2018 screening event in Chanika, Dar es Salaam.

Blood Donation Events

Prepared and coordinated blood donation events on university grounds.

Graduation Ceremony

Organized the first graduation ceremony, celebrating member achievements with certificates.
