Bishop J. T. Takawira on the 20th through to 23rd of February taught an audience of more than 100 people on ways and importance of establishing and strengthening a relationship with God.

The teachings were done during a 4-day seminar organized by the Kampala International University in Tanzania (KIUT) Chapel that invited Bishop Takawira from Harare, Zimbabwe to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ to everyone willing to attend the seminar within and outside the campus. Students, staff members, and people surrounding the campus attended the seminar that began on Thursday and climaxed on Sunday 23rd. Different teachings were given each day, according to the statement.

On Thursday, day one, the Bishop taught about the grace of pursuit where the audience came to learn that everyone already has God’s grace, meaning they have already found favour in him. Therefore, what is left is for people to find God and continue in his grace. The teachings were from the Book of Exodus 33: 12-23 (KJV) that states:

“And Moses said unto the Lord, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight. Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people. And he said, my presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest. And he said unto him, if thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence. For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth. And the Lord said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name. And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory. And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy. And he said, thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live. And the Lord said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock:And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.”

On Friday, the second day, according to the statement, the teachings focused on Jesus Christ as a revelation from God and that God revealed his Son, Jesus Christ to mankind and through this revelation, the Church was built. The primary teaching on this day was that people should know the Son of God, Jesus Christ for he is the foundation on which they were built. Furthermore, the statement read that people are to seek him with all their hearts through meditating in the word of God and praying so the spirit of knowledge can bring revelation to know one’s purpose in life. Also, even if such revelation is not shown, God will keep one close and protected. The teaching of this day was guided by the book of Matthew 16:13-20 that states:

“When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.”

Other scriptures used in support of the second day’s seminar were Ephesians: 2:21-22; Ephesians 4: 11-16; and Exodus 33: 13-18.

On the third day, Saturday, people were taught about the Holy Spirit and how one can get to know him. Explaining the existence of the Holy Spirit from the beginning through the Book of Genesis 1:1, the Bishop walked the audience through the works of the Holy Spirit, explaining that everything man needs comes from the Holy Spirit, even saying that it was through the Holy Spirit that Jesus Christ was able to do his work when he walked the earth, healing and teaching people about God and his heavenly kingdom and in the end before he left the earth after being resurrected that a helper will come to guide them through the ways of the Kingdom of God and do what Jesus did and even more.

The Bishop further said that the Holy Spirit lives within everybody and all we must do is to be willing to learn to listen to him and follow his guidance. “The only reason why we may be struggling with our flesh, failure, heartbreak, poverty, sickness, etc., whatever it is you are struggling with, is because we have not given Him (Holy Spirit) His place in our lives. He was sent to help, teach, encourage, speak through you, do through you, live through you. So, let Him do that,” reads the statement.

In pursuit of God, the third day’s overall message was centered on letting the Holy Spirit lead people to God in the pursuit journey. Other verses used in guiding the teachings of Friday were John 1:33; Matthew 3:11; Luke 3:16; Ephesians 1:19; John 14:16-19; Acts 2: 38; Acts 5: 32; Romans 14:17; Romans 15:16; 2 Corinthians 6:6 and 1 Thessalonians 1:6.

On the fourth and final day, Sunday, the Bishop taught about seeing the Glory of God and how it was made possible through Jesus Christ. The statement shows narration when the Bishop stated how Moses in Exodus was told by God that he would die if he sees God in all his glory due to our sinful nature. However, with Jesus Christ who was sacrificed with purity and without blame, through him, man can see the face of God and not die for his victory on the cross made it possible for mankind to be close to God without fear of death.

Bishop Takawira further stated with clarity that seeing God’s glory is through transforming our habits, thinking and overall behaviour to the reflection of Jesus Christ that would lead man into living in the spirit more than living in the flesh that opposes God. He continued to state that this is done through not only reading the word of God and praying, but also making a conscious and committed choice of practicing the word and through time, transformations shall begin to manifest and become the light of the world by walking in the steps of Jesus Christ.

“Brethren seeing the glory of God, having a face to face relationship with Him is within our reach. Jesus Christ has made it possible for us. That promise that God gave us in Jeremiah 29:13 is attainable. We are not grasping at straws. We can see God; we can know Him,” reads the statement.

Verses that guided the fourth day seminar were Exodus 33: 18-20; Romans 3:23; Matthew 17:1-5; Luke 9: 28-36; Romans 8: 21; 1 Corinthians 2:7; 2 Corinthians 4:4-6; Hebrews 1:3; James 1: 22-25; John 14:21 and Jeremiah 29:13.

More in the seminar, the report showed that there were praises and worship during the 4-day event and people were grateful for the teachings and thankful to the KIUT Chapel for organizing the seminar and inviting the man of God. Students were witnessed to be very attentive throughout, listening, digesting and taking keen notes on what was taught.
