Hon. Dr. Tulia hosts KIUT students during their visit to Dodoma where they attended Parliamentary Session

Dodoma, Tanzania – A group of forty-seven students from the Public Administration program at Kampala International University in Tanzania (KIUT) had the exceptional opportunity to visit the Parliament of the United Republic of Tanzania on February 6, 2025. The visit, led by Hon. Jerry William Silaa, Member of Parliament for Ukonga, was warmly welcomed by Honourable Dr. Tulia Ackson, the Speaker of the Parliament, during the 18th session of the 12th Parliament.

In her welcoming remarks, Speaker Dr. Tulia Ackson highlighted the significance of the students’ presence, underscoring the importance of engaging the next generation of leaders in the legislative process. “We are pleased to host 47 distinguished guests today—students of Public Administration from Kampala International University in Tanzania, joining us from Dar es Salaam’s Gongo la Mboto,” Dr. Ackson said.

Students were offered a unique opportunity to witness Tanzania’s legislative process firsthand and engage with political figures, providing them with invaluable insights into the inner workings of government. This experience aligns with KIUT’s commitment to offering students practical, real-world learning opportunities that complement their academic pursuits.

KIUT is also deeply grateful to the Parliament of the United Republic of Tanzania for its warm hospitality and support in making this experience possible. The opportunity for students to step outside the classroom and engage with Tanzania’s political landscape provides them with critical learning experiences that will shape their future careers in public administration.

Following the parliamentary session, the students had the privilege of conversing with Hon. Jerry William Silaa. The students expressed their deep appreciation for his leadership, kindness, and dedication to public service. Hon. Silaa’s mentorship left an impression on the students, who expressed gratitude for the chance to engage with such an inspiring public figure.

“This experience has undoubtedly enhanced our students’ understanding of how public administration functions in the real world,” said a KIUT representative. “We are excited to continue offering similar opportunities that foster both academic growth and professional development.”

The Public Administration program at KIUT is designed to prepare students for dynamic careers in public policy, resource management, and leadership.
