‘ICT is no longer a want, but a need’ – ICT Club

The Kampala International University in Tanzania ICT Club asserted that information technology has now become a need and no longer a want as compared to the last decade. This was unveiled by Miss Aaliyah, a Bachelor of Computer Science Student who is a member of the ICT club during the International Women’s Day event, commemorated on the 8th of March at the university campus.

“People depend on technology to do their activities such as education, economics, health, transport, entertainment since technology simplifies all these in terms of time, power, and money,” added Aaliyah when introducing the research paper before presenting the findings.

She further asserted that technology also provides accuracy and reduces errors to make work more efficient and well presented.

“Technology also provide us accuracy and consistency since our activities and tasks are programmed in such a way that human errors and blunders are disciplined,” said Aaliyah as she continued with her presentation.

The presentation was part of the university’s theme for this year’s commemoration of international women’s day that focused on how women can play a major role in gender sustainability for future generation using cyber tools and technology. The event aimed at providing an academic perspective on the dangers of cyber crime and why women tend to most fall prey to the vice by presenting a paper analysed from field data collected from students and staff members concerning their perception on cybercrime and use the findings to educate the attendees and other stakeholders the various realities of the vice.
