KIUT holds curriculum review meeting for bachelor’s programs in education

On March 21st, Kampala International University in Tanzania (KIUT) hosted an important curriculum review meeting for its bachelor’s programs in the fields of biology, mathematics, chemistry, physics, and computer subjects. The event took place in the KIUT boardroom and was organized by the Department of Education with Sciences, under the Faculty of Education and Legal Studies. 

The meeting was officially opened by the Academic Registrar, Dr. Edward Kamya, who welcomed a diverse group of stakeholders from various sectors, including representatives from the Dodoma Teacher Service Commission, Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology, St. Joseph, Dar es Salaam University College of Education, Loyola High School, Juhudi Secondary School, Majani ya Chai Secondary School, and others. The meeting underscored the importance of continuous dialogue among educators, industry professionals, and policymakers to ensure the relevance and effectiveness of higher education. 

In his opening remarks, Dr. Kamya emphasized the pivotal role that teachers play in shaping the future of education. He stressed that collaboration between educational institutions and external stakeholders is crucial to ensuring that academic programs remain aligned with the evolving needs of the workforce. 

Further, at the driving seat to these changes are the teaching force. Dr. Kamya remarked, “It is through their dedication, innovation, and guidance that we can equip students with the skills necessary to face global challenges and contribute meaningfully to both the public and private sectors. With the right support, educators can help students emerge as skilled, confident leaders capable of making a positive impact both within Tanzania and on the global stage”, he concluded.
