The Kampala International University in Tanzania (KIUT) Netball team made history on the Ukonga Prison’s Special Task Force grounds (KM Grounds) on 27th September by defeating the host netball team by 31goals to 8 in the finals to become the champions of the tournament in the netball category. The same team also participated in the women’s tug-of-war game against the hosts and won.
The two-day event featured multiple sports and games for both men and women, namely, football, volleyball, tug or war, sack racing, chicken chasing, judo, wrestling, athletics (100 meters, 400 meters 1,500 meters and 5,000 meters together with relay), eating competition, and several other games. The event brought together hundreds of people.
Other games that KIUT won in first place were chicken racing (men) and eating competition (women). Second place victories were in the 100 meters race (men), 400 meters relay race (men), sack racing (men), and tug of war (men).KIUT was in third place in the volleyball competition.
The bonanza was held at the Ukonga Prison’s Special Task Force Unit, prepared to support the nation’s drive in instilling peace and stability ahead of the 2020 general elections scheduled to take place on Wednesday, 28th October.
