KIUT, Sinai Combine draw 1-1 in Samia Ilala Super Cup

The KIUT football team played to a 1-1 draw against Sinai Combine in a group-stage match of the Samia Ilala Super Cup today, March 9, 2025, at the MsikateTamaa Stadium in Vingunguti, Dar es Salaam.

Both teams have now played two matches, winning one and drawing one, earning four points each in Group G.

They are both aiming for a place in the Round of 16, with their final group-stage matches scheduled for next week.

After the match, the coaches of both teams shared their views with The Respondent Online.

KIUT’s Head Coach, Erius Marius, described the game as competitive and intense.

He acknowledged that although his team had numerous chances, they failed to capitalize on them, resulting in the 1-1 draw.

“The tactical plan we set out from the bench worked well, but in the first half, we received two red cards, leaving us with fewer players on the field,” Marius explained.

“We played a half-field strategy, and it worked, as we scored one goal. However, they managed to equalize, and in the end, both teams took one point each.”

Sinai Combine’s Head Coach, JumaVunge, expressed dissatisfaction with his team’s performance, despite the 1-1 draw.

“This match was a chance for us to secure a victory, especially since our opponents were a man down,” Vunge said. “Unfortunately, my players didn’t follow the instructions I gave them.

We will focus on addressing the areas where we are lacking, so that we can win our next match and qualify for the Round of 16.”
