KIUT, TPA advance to DAREVA Volleyball League semifinals

KIUT and TPA have booked their places in the semifinals of this season’s Dar es Salaam Regional Volleyball League (DAREVA), following strong performances in their quarterfinal matches held at the Kampala grounds in Dar es Salaam.

The semifinal stage, scheduled for next weekend, will feature eight teams—four men’s teams and four women’s teams.

In the men’s division, KIUT cruised past Tanzania Prisons with a commanding 3-0 victory in the quarterfinals. TPA (Port Authority) also secured their semifinal spot after sweeping Jeshi Stars by the same margin.

On the women’s side, Jeshi Stars advanced with a dominant 3-0 win over Star Girls, while JKT emerged victorious in a hard-fought 3-2 battle against Tanzania Prisons.

These teams will now join High Voltage and JKT in the men’s semifinals, while KIUT and TPA will compete in the women’s semifinals.

Speaking after the match, KIUT player Said Alhaji praised his team’s performance and acknowledged the challenge posed by their opponents.

“It was a tough match. Tanzania Prisons is an experienced and competitive team, but we stuck to the game plan our coach gave us, and it paid off,” said Alhaji.

He added that the team is determined to go all the way and lift the trophy this year after falling short in last season’s final, where they lost 3-2 to Jeshi Stars.

“Our goal is to win the championship. Last year, we came close but missed out in the final. This time, we’re aiming to finish the job,” he said.
