KIUT Volleyball team ready for a comeback

The KIUT volleyball team is gearing up for a strong return in the upcoming domestic leagues, with its management promising a fresh and competitive approach.

Speaking to The Respondent Online, the university’s Sports Coordinator, Robin Msigwa, revealed that the institution has registered three teams for the new season.

“Two of our teams will compete in the Dar es Salaam Regional Volleyball Association (DAREVA) Serie A, while the third team will play in Serie B,” Msigwa said.

He attributed this expansion to the growing number of student players, noting that the increase has inspired the university to create more opportunities for students to showcase their skills and compete at higher levels.

The teams have already begun training in preparation for the new season.

According to Msigwa, the players are motivated and ready to take on stiff competition from seasoned teams like JKT, Jeshi Stars, and Bandari, which have been performing exceptionally well.

“We’ve been out for a short while, but we’re returning with a new strategy. We understand our competitors have been preparing, but we’re equally determined to give our best and restore pride and excitement to our fans,” he said.

Msigwa called on fans to rally behind the team and turn up for matches when the leagues begin. “We’re bringing back the thrill and entertainment to the court.

We urge our supporters to come out in numbers and cheer for us,” he added.

KIUT’s return to volleyball promises an exciting season for both the players and their fans.
