His Excellency Ali Hassan Mwinyi, the Chancellor of KIUT and former President of the United Republic of Tanzania has advised KIUT graduates to engage in problem solving initiatives to address societal challenges using the skills and knowledge acquired during their study period at Kampala International University in Tanzania to complement the nation’s industrialization agenda of becoming a middle-income nation by 2025.
The Chancellor said this while conferring certificates, diplomas and degrees to 1,148 graduates during the 2nd KIUT graduation ceremony held on Thursday 12th, December 2019 at the university’s main campus located in Gongo la Mboto, Dar es Salaam.
Furthermore, the Chancellor called upon the vibrant and excited graduates to adhere to ethical conducts in their respective career endeavours to support the Government’s development agenda. “I urge you all to be good ambassadors of KIUT through honesty and integrity by avoiding corrupt practices in support of efforts made by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, His Excellency Dr. John Pombe Joseph Magufuli to develop our nation,” he said.
During the ceremony, a total of 1,148 finalists successfully completed their respective studies, which included 149 certificate graduates, 237 diploma graduates, 761 bachelor’s degree graduates and 1 post-graduate diploma graduate.
The ceremony also witnessed a huge attendance of graduates’ loved ones, university staff members, corporate guests, government officials, media and other invited and supportive stakeholders.The invited guests showed great joy and amazement as they were witnessed taking various photographs and videos, and some talking and laughing on “flash-back” stories. The staff members showed mixed feelings of happiness and sorrow for their graduated students whom they taught and nurtured all the way through their respective programs.
The various organizing committees, despite their exhaustion, commented positively to the event, expressing their gratitude to the guests and graduate’s turn-up and the general positive atmosphere, as well as their excitement to the next graduation ceremony next year.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jamidu Katima in his address emphasized to graduates to practice perseverance and creativity especially during employment uncertainty since the university education provided environmental mastery. The ceremony was attended by the university.
