The Directorate of postgraduate studies and research (DPSR), sees and co-ordinates a  vibrant postgraduate training and research system at Kampala International University in Tanzania, aimed at producing high-performing graduates, who are innovative, responsive to demands, leaders in development activities at national and international levels and who can contribute positively to the overall well-being of society.

The Directorate of postgraduate studies and research has gone through institutional development and continues to evolve. It is among the first units set up at the inception of Kampala International University in Tanzania. DPSR is unique by structure and does not house any course, these are housed in other departments across faculties. It is therefore a coordination and service Directorate for administrative functionalities, teaching, and research related to postgraduate studies.

The Directorate of postgraduate studies and research was constituted to ease the administration of postgraduate programmes by adopting the decentralized structure whereby it acts as a coordinator of all postgraduate programmes offered by various Faculties that are housed in the Directorate. DPSR main function is to foster and manage postgraduate training and research, by promoting quality and development impact oriented research, publications, and dissemination of knowledge and new innovations to meet needs of the changing society. To achieve this, DPSR will foster efficiency, effectiveness and relevancy of postgraduate training and research by all the departments and faculties of Kampala International University in Tanzania.

The Directorate of postgraduate studies and research has a Board which discusses and approves issues before they are submitted to SENATE.  Faculty deans and heads of academic departments are among members of the Directorate of Postgraduate Studies and Research Board (DPSR BOARD).  Among the activities which we are currently working on include consolidating the postgraduate programmes that will be offered in the academic year 2019/20 and beyond.  These will be accompanied by the DPSR Handbook / Prospectus for the same academic year.
