About Programme

Public Administration prepares students to pursue careers working around and implementing public policies in various areas. That is to state, the career trains graduates to analyse information, oversee expenses, draft and implement government and public policy, manage resources and people, conduct safety inspections, investigate suspected unethical activities, serve as consultants and in general or more importantly, act as stewards of the public interest.

Furthermore, Public Administration deals with critical matters such as assisting organizations, including the private sector to meet the continuous changing needs of the general population while at the same time attempting to avoid tax increases, implementing information technologies that better connect citizens and their governmental representatives, and improving responses to natural disasters. This is so because during different academic levels, students are taught financial management, human services, policies and maintenance of organizations that serve the public, including leadership skills that helps a student increase public service and organizations that were put into place to assist society to live normal and healthy lifestyles.

Kampala International University in Tanzania offers this course from Certificate Level all the way through to Bachelor level; Certificate in Public Administration (1 Year), Diploma in Public Administration (2 Years) and Bachelor of Public Administration (3 Years).

Admission Criteria

Direct Entry – for form Six Applicants

  • Two principal passes in the following subjects: History, Geography, Kiswahili, English Language, French, Arabic, Fine Art, Economics, Commerce, Accountancy, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Advanced Mathematics, Agriculture, Computer Science or Nutrition or Foundation Programme of the OUT with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Holders of Ordinary Diploma or Equivalent Qualifications

  • Diploma in Public Administration, Law, Social Work, Development Planning, Community Development, Records and Archives, Local Government Administration, Secretarial Studies, Business Administration, Youth Development Work, Human Resource Management, Conflict Resolution, International Relations, Development Studies with an average of “B’’ or a minimum GPA of 3.0.
