The Tanzania Universities and Colleges Adventist Students Association (TUCASA) is an extension of the Seventh Day Adventist Church Youth, Chaplaincy and Public Campus Ministries that focuses on preaching and spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ to Higher Learning Institutions of all levels in Tanzania.
Historically, the association was established in the early 1970s and was initially called, the Tanzania Higher Learning Institutions Seventh Day Adventist Students and Associates Organization (THISDASAO) with the primary aim of spreading the gospel to universities. However, in the 1990s, the organization changed its name to Tanzania Higher Learning Institutions Seventh Day Adventist Students Organization (THISDASO), in a move to make graduates associate members and no longer default members. Proceeding with the new direction and continuous work of God, in 2013, the Organization again changed its name to the current name, TUCASA aimed to make all students studying in higher learning institutions as defaults members that fully participate in the activities of the association.
The headquarters of the association is where the Southern Tanzania Union of the Seventh Day Adventist Church is situated.
TUCASA-KIUT is an arm of TUCASA that preaches the gospel through the teachings of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Kampala International University in Tanzania (KIUT). The aim is to spread the love of Jesus Christ in the university campus and beyond in collaboration with TUCASA and the Adventist Church of Tanzania.
To facilitate the proclamation of the everlasting gospel of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ as embodied in the Three Angels Message of Revelation 14:6-12, as reflected in the mission statement of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, to all Colleges and Universities students.
TUCASA-KIUT members will grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ in harmony with the great prophecies of the Scriptures.
As part of evangelism as instructed by our Lord Jesus that we should go to the world and make all nations to be his disciples and baptize them as written in Matthew 28:19-20, TUCASA-KIUT every year conducts mission outreaches to different locations in Tanzania, especially in remote areas to preach the Everlasting Gospel to God’s people through his Word e.g., we preach and teach about Health reform through medical missionary, explaining some prophecies of the Bible and their fulfillment, and stewardship. We also use our professions for missions e.g., treating the sick, teaching the students around those areas, praising and worshiping God through songs and night programs and other means. This is not limited to helping the needy, which we have done multiple times in Mtwara, Ruvuma, and Kisarawe where we reached at least 500 people on each mission.
As an association, we educate ourselves in sticking to health principles, similar to keeping the ten commandments of God as written in the book of exodus 20:1-17 by leading an active lifestyle to avoid diseases. Our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit hence,it should not be defiled by anything 1 Corinthians 6: 19 – 20 and that in everything we do,whether we eat, drink or do should glorify our God 1 Corinthians 10:31 KJV. We commit to follow the eight principles i.e., nutrition, water, fresh air, exercises, rest, temperance, sunlight and trust in God, leading to a habit of exercising for 45 minutes in the university campus during the weekdays from 06:00-06:45 am. Everyone is invited.
The association organizes evangelical seminars on different topics such as Health reforms, prophecies, stewardship, which includes missions, praise and worship concerts, bible studies and spirit of prophecy delivered by different people from the association. All of our doctrines are biblical based for it is written in 2 timothy 3:16 -17 that, “All scriptures are given by inspiration of God,and is profitable for doctrine, reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.’’ Every month, the association has at least two federations that brings together Adventist students and Non-Adventists for worshiping on the Sabbath of the Seventh day of the week from morning till evening.
We conduct Evangelism activities in our campus by reaching our fellow students, lecturers, administrators and people around KIUT with the Everlasting gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ on November of each year.We invite in search for truth in Word of God, as written in the book of John 8:32, “For you shall know the truth and it shall set you free from any bondage and slavery.”
TUCASA-KIUT, in the beginning of every academic year, as we receives new students (freshers) we always have events to welcome new students through fellowships on the Sabbath, giving them orientations on the university facilities, TUCASA-KIUT organization, its leadership and the university at a large together, done by continuing students. We also bid farewell to finalists through the TUCASA-KIUT graduation ceremony that features parties to cherishing the good moments and seminars about life after university through glorifying God in all we do and wherever we are, as we await one day for our Lord Jesus to catch us all in the cloud on his second coming.
