KIUT Shines at Zanzibar Exhibition

Kampala International University in Tanzania (KIUT) recently made a significant impact at the 6th Higher Education Week Exhibition, held from July 14th to July 20th, 2025, at Mnazi Mmoja Grounds in Zanzibar. The seven day event, organized by the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, provided a platform for universities to connect with prospective students and key stakeholders. A dedicated team of representatives from KIUT’s Marketing and Public Relations Directorate; Seleman Maage, Anchila Elias, Lukman Khamis, and Ali Kurwa represented the university. Their mission was clear: to market KIUT to a diverse audience, attract prospective students and strengthen institutional relationship. Throughout the week, the group operated a well-organized booth, providing crucial information and career guidance to students. They offered details about various academic programs and highlighted the university's ongoing scholarship scheme, which was met with great enthusiasm. The exhibition wasn't just about attracting new students. They also used the opportunity to assist current students with their queries, ensuring that KIUT's services have a broad reach. The exhibition offered valuable insights into the educational landscape in Zanzibar. KIUT’s booth received visits from several distinguished guests, including the Minister of Education and Vocational Training of Zanzibar, Hon. Lela Muhamed Mussa, the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education of Zanzibar, Mr. Khalid M. Waziri, and the Chairman of the Tanzania Commission for Universities, Dr. Leonard Akwilapo. The KIUT staff showcased KIUT’s academic offerings and its scholarship program to these prominent leaders. Hon. Lela Muhamed Mussa was so impressed that she spoke about the scholarship scheme live on air after her visit, providing a major boost in publicity for the university. The representatives observed a growing appetite for higher education among Zanzibari, fueled by government support through student and employee education grants. This growing demand presents a significant opportunity for KIUT. The university already has a strong foundation on the island, thanks to its numerous alumni working in key government and private sectors.
