Kampala International University in Tanzania (KIUT) capped off a historic sporting year with a strong showing at the 2025 Tanzania Volleyball Federation (TVF) Awards, held on Saturday, 20th December in Dar es Salaam.

The university’s volleyball team walked away with four major accolades, underscoring its growing influence in both domestic and regional volleyball. In the men’s category, Said Alhaj emerged as one of the night’s biggest winners, securing three awards:  Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Year  Best Beach Volleyball Combo of the Year  Best Setter of the Year In the women’s category, Sarah Hengama earned the title of Best Setter of the Year, adding to KIUT’s impressive medal haul.

The annual Tanzania Volleyball Federation (TVF) Awards celebrate excellence in Tanzanian volleyball, recognizing standout players, coaches, officials, and partners who have contributed to the sport’s development. This year’s recognition comes on the heels of an exceptional run for KIUT Volleyball. The team dominated the local scene by winning both the DAREVA League and the Tanzania Volleyball National League (TVNL) 2025. Internationally, KIUT claimed victory at the Grand Palace Hotel International Volleyball Tournament and showcased strong performances during competitive tours in Rwanda and Germany. With preparations already underway for next year’s competitions, the team is aiming to build on its momentum and further elevate the standard of volleyball within the institution and across the country.
