In a warm celebration of service and community dedication, the Rotary Club of Mikocheni hosted an appreciation gathering on 18th of April 2026 at Veal Restaurant, Makumbusho, Dar es Salaam. The event brought together volunteers from various clubs who played an active role in Phase Two of the national Polio Vaccination Campaign a milestone effort in Tanzania's ongoing commitment to eradicating polio. Among those recognized were individuals affiliated with Kampala International University in Tanzania (KIUT), whose participation reflects the institution's deep-rooted values of social responsibility and community service. The gathering was a moment of recognition, unity, and a reminder that the effort to protect communities from preventable diseases requires the collective will of institutions, organizations, and individuals alike.

Polio, a highly infectious viral disease, primarily affects children under five and can cause irreversible paralysis. While significant progress has been made globally through vaccination campaigns, sustained community-level mobilization remains critical to achieving full eradication.
