The Tanzania Medical Students' Association (TAMSA), Kampala International University (KIUT) Chapter, brought together about 70 students, alumni, and partners on Friday, 26th June 2026, for its much-anticipated Awards Night, held at the KIUT Campus to celebrate a year of academic excellence, leadership, and dedicated service.

Guests began arriving from 6:30 PM, with the Guest of Honour, Dr. Mohammed Soka, joining the celebration at around 7:30 PM alongside distinguished visitors, including Dr. Noel Mwanga, Dr. Caroline Kanuti, TAMSA National President Mr. Duwa Almasi, and former MEDSA Rwanda President Mr. Methode Yussuf. Their presence underscored the strong network of support behind student leadership across the region.

Following an opening prayer, by TAMSA-KIUT Chairperson Mr. Peter Haule welcomed guests and traced the chapter's journey since its founding in 2021, reflecting on its steady growth and impact. Dr. Soka delivered a keynote address, drawing on his own experience as a former TAMSA President to encourage students toward active leadership and professional growth.

The evening's centerpiece was a wide-ranging awards presentation spanning several categories. Certificates of Excellence recognized top-performing students across all year groups, alongside outstanding volunteers, leaders, and standing committees, with SCORA taking first place among committees and the Mlinde Health Campaign named Best TAMSA-KIUT Event. Mercy Walter was celebrated as Best Health Influencer.

Certificates of Collaboration went to TAMSA-Kairuki and TAMSA-SJUCHAS, while Certificates of Appreciation honoured Dr. Mohammed Soka, Dr. Ibrahim Msangi, Dr. Caroline Kanuti, John Kitamboya, and alumnus Michael Nyau for their contributions to the association. African Mothers received a Certificate of Partnership in recognition of its continued support. The night closed with the prestigious Glass Awards, celebrating standout figures including Dr. Noel Mwanga, Hall of Fame inductees Ad Simba and Denis Swai, Chairperson Peter Haule for outstanding leadership, and Mr. Duwa Almasi, who received the Pride of TAMSA-KIUT Award. Guests capped off the evening with a group photo session and dinner, sharing in networking and celebration.

The TAMSA-KIUT Awards Night 2026 stood as a fitting tribute to a year of hard work and unity, reaffirming the chapter's commitment to nurturing the next generation of healthcare leaders through service, collaboration, and excellence.
