The Kampala International University in Tanzania Student Government Organization (KIUTSO) held its First Parliamentary Meeting for the 2026/2027 term on Friday, 17th July 2026, bringing together members of Parliament to elect the new Guild Speaker and Deputy Speaker who will preside over the student Parliament for the coming term.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Ndg. Damian M. Manga of the School of Biomedical Laboratory Sciences (BMLS) was elected Speaker of the KIUTSO Parliament for 2026/2027, while Ndg. Getrude Simon of the School of Biomedical Sciences (BMS) was elected Deputy Speaker. The two will jointly steer the affairs of the student Parliament, presiding over its sittings and ensuring orderly representation of students' interests within KIUTSO. The election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker marked a key milestone in the formation of the new student government, following closely on the appointment of Ndg. Junior Maseko as Prime Minister of KIUTSO for the 2026/2027 term. Together, these leadership positions form part of the incoming student government structure tasked with representing and serving the student body in the year ahead.
KIUTSO congratulated the newly elected leaders, with members of the outgoing and incoming government extending their goodwill under the shared theme guiding the new administration: “Together We Lead, Together We Succeed.” The university extends its congratulations to Ndg. Damian M. Manga, Ndg. Getrude Simon, and Ndg. Junior Maseko on their new roles and wishes them a productive and impactful term in service of the KIUT student community.
