The KIUT Social Work Club translated classroom theory into an affectionate exercise on Sunday, January 25, 2026, through a charity outreach visit to the Fadhila Orphanage Centre in Kibaha. Accompanied and guided by Mr. Hussein Ibrahim from the Department of Social Sciences, who served as the teacher coordinator, the students embarked on an initiative that was more than a simple visit; it was a deliberate demonstration of the club’s core pillars: community service, social responsibility, and the holistic empowerment of children.
Under Mr. Ibrahim's mentorship, the team led several interactive educational sessions aimed at providing the children with practical life skills. The workshop was specifically tailored to address the specific challenges the children face, focusing on:
- Safety & Advocacy: Raising vital awareness regarding Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and clarifying the fundamental rights of every child.
-Mental Fortitude: Nurturing self-awareness and self-esteem to help the children navigate life’s challenges with confidence.
-Emotional Wellbeing: Creating a safe space for dialogue, ensuring the children felt heard, valued, and protected.
Through the collective contributions of the KIUT community, the Social Work Club was able to donate an array of essential supplies, the donation included everything from clothing and kitchen utensils to hygiene products such as liquid and powdered soap and food staples like sugar. These items were received with heartfelt gratitude, providing immediate relief to the center’s daily operations.
The heart of the afternoon was found in the "quiet moments" the sharing of stories between the students and the children. This exchange of laughter fostered a powerful atmosphere of warmth and mutual understanding, reminding everyone present that time and attention are often the most valuable gifts one can give.
The outreach proved to be a deeply rewarding experience for all involved. The KIUT Social Work Club expresses its profound gratitude to God for a successful mission and extends a sincere THANK YOU to Mr. Hussein Ibrahim for his coordination and to every individual whose contributions turned this vision into a reality. The joy and enthusiasm displayed by the children at Fadhila serve as a catalyst for the club’s future endeavors, as they remain steadfast in their mission to advocate for vulnerable communities and drive positive social change.
