Public health advocacy is most powerful when it goes beyond the classroom and reaches those in dire need, a conviction put into action by the Standing Committee on Public Health (SCOPH) of the Tanzania Medical Students' Association at Kampala International University in Tanzania (TAMSA-KIUT), who on the 20th of August 2026, carried a nationwide Anti-Microbial Resistance (AMR) awareness campaign to TBC 2 Television and TBC 2 Online, broadcast live during the station's Prime News segment. The session had originally been planned as a radio interview on TBC FM, but was elevated to a televised broadcast reaching a considerably wider national audience.

Representing TAMSA KIUT on the panel were student speakers Moshi Pius, Imani Christopher, and Joseph Omary, who used the platform to educate the public on the drivers and dangers of antimicrobial resistance, both locally and globally. The discussion placed strong emphasis on responsible antibiotic usage, cautioning viewers against self-medication and the purchase of antibiotics without valid prescriptions. The campaign, made possible through collaboration between TAMSA-KIUT, TAMSA National's AMR Committee, and TBC, was publicized through word of

mouth as well as the chapter's WhatsApp groups, Instagram page, and posters. Its reach on a national broadcast platform marked a significant achievement for the chapter, enhancing its visibility, strengthening its ties with the media, and reinforcing its institutional recognition as an advocate for public health across Tanzania.
